2359Hrs UTC, 31st January 1999
"The end of an era..."

At approximately 2359 Hrs UTC on the 31st of January 1999 a simultaneous transmission was broadcast around Australia by all exsisting coast stations. The transmissions marked the end of 87 years of morse operation on the marine bands. Morse, or Radio Telegraphy, will no longer be provided by Australia's Maritime Coast Radio Stations -
VIM, VIS, VIB, VIT, VID & VIP
